Someone pointed out to me the other day that in these recessionary times people are finding it more difficult to get mobile phone contracts without a good credit history.

Some useful hints and tips for getting a mobile phone contract were passed to me. The main bit of information seems to be that if you apply directly to a major mobile network provider then you have a greater chance of being accepted for a contract than if you apply to one of the high street retailers as they have different credit checking policies and procedures.
